That’s what the security leaders at Alabama Christian Academy (ACA) have done. The private Protestant school in Montgomery, Ala. was founded in 1942 by leaders who wanted to provide families of central Alabama a place where students could receive a faith-based education.
The school has steadily grown through the years. In 1985, it moved to a new location, which included an extensive building plan that increased the number of elementary and high school classrooms and renovated the football stadium.
Today, it is a safe and secure environment where more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade can learn and educators can teach without fears about their physical safety.
Working with local integrator Creative Security Solutions in Montgomery, AL, ACA has installed more than 60 IP video surveillance cameras and access control for 20 interior and exterior doors to monitor activity during school hours and throughout the perimeter after hours.
As ACA has leveraged video surveillance to secure its facilities, it needed a unified security platform that would allow video surveillance, video analytics, and access to be quickly accessed. Integrated systems also alert staff of suspicious activity, facilitating informed decision-making during a crisis.
Shelton Mangum, owner of Creative Security Solutions, who was deeply involved with the project, recently installed the LENSEC Perspective VMS® solution at the school, due to its integration with Galaxy Control, the access control provider.
